What is Leave No Trace?

Leave No Trace is a national and international program designed to assist out­ door enthusiasts with their decisions about how to reduce their impacts when they hike, camp, picnic, snowshoe, run, bike, hunt, paddle, ride horses, fish, ski or climb. The program strives to educate all those who enjoy the outdoors about the nature of their recreational impacts as well as techniques to prevent and minimize such impacts. The Boy Scouts of America adopted Leave No Trace as its outdoor minimum-impact program in 1997.

What will Leave No Trace Trainer Course Graduates Come Away with?

Graduates will receive recognition as Leave No Trace Trainers with skills for training both Scouting audiences and the general public.Youth qualify for the Leave No Trace Trainer position of responsibility in the troop, team, or crew. Graduates will fully meet the BSA "Leave No Trace Trainer" National Camp Standard.

How can Leave No Trace Trainers Utilize Their Training?

Graduates are qualified to assist Scouts and Scouting adults in earning the Leave No Trace Achievement Award and can teach Leave No Trace Awareness Workshops and courses, including BSA Leave No Trace 101,which enables Scouts and Scout adults to receive the Leave No Trace Awareness Card.
