Cub Scout Day Camp FAQs
What is Cub Scout Day Camp?
Cub Scout Day Camp is a five day, fun-filled experience that offers opportunities for all levels of Cub Scouting to participate in activities that are designed to build mental fitness, physical skills, and character. And it is A LOT OF FUN!
Where are the Camps?
Day Camps are located in or near each District in the Cradle of Liberty Council. Click here to find the camp closest to you. All cubs and their families are welcome to attend any camp in the Council. Each camp is unique enough that your Scout will enjoy multiple weeks of Day Camp at various locations.
What will my Cub Scout do at Camp?
Each camp has a variety of age-appropriate games and sports, crafts, and other activities that will help your Cub have a Scouting Adventure! Belt loops, activity pins, and other advancement are earned at each camp.
How much does camp cost?
Cub Scout -- $135 per week (Early Bird fee of $110 before May 1st) IF an adult is volunteering for all five days then the Scout goes for the reduced rate of $25 if the payment is received by May 1st.
Siblings -- ages 7-10 (entering grades 1 - 5) $135 (Early Bird fee of $110 before May 1st - Full Program with the Cub Scouts)
ages 3-6 $15 (Kids Korner)
PLEASE NOTE SIBLINGS CAN ONLY ATTEND IF A PARENT IS VOLUNTEERING AT CAMP
Adult Volunteers --are free and must have Youth Protection Training
Boy Scout or Youth Volunteers -- free and must be Den Chief and Youth Protection trained with a letter of recommendation from their Scoutmaster. Applications without these documents will be denied. (The same requirements must be met for female volunteers)
Camperships
Camperships are available to Cub Scouts in need on a first come first serve basis. Click here for more information and a Campership Application.
Can I bring my Cub's siblings?
Most camps have a Kids Korner program available for the children of camp volunteers. Check with your Day Camp Director for age minimums and any other requirements. All sibling campers must be potty trained. Camps also offer a sibling program for their volunteer's Cub Scout-age children (7-10), in which siblings will participate in the same activities as Cub Scouts. Kids Corner is only available for the children of our volunteers. Parents with children in the Sibling program and/or Kids Korner MUST volunteer for the full week.
Do I have to volunteer?
Cub Scout Day Camp would be lost without its youth and adult volunteers. Adults learn a lot and will be inspired and engaged in the idea of Scouting and camping. Adults can volunteer from one to five days and serve in a variety of staff roles. Adults who volunteer for a full week can bring their Cub Scout to camp FOR ONLY $25! Youth volunteers are also needed to serve as Den Chiefs and assist in program areas.
Does an adult have to attend camp with a Tiger Scout?
Yes. Tiger Scouts (those going into 1st grade) must have an adult with them at all times including at Day Camp. Tiger Scouts and their adult partner do everything together in Scouting. This is per the BSA and applies to Day Camp the same as it does to den and Pack meetings or any other Scouting activity. The "Tiger Partner" does not have to be Mom or Dad. A Guardian, Grandparent, Aunt/Uncle, Older sibling (over 18), etc (with parental consent) is welcome to volunteer as the Tiger Partner.
Do I have to pre-register?
All camp attendees (both adults and youth) must be pre registered for camp by two weeks before camp starts. Walk-ins on the first day of camp will not be accepted. All registration forms must come through council, not sent directly to camp directors. Adult and Youth Volunteers need to apply early so camp directors can place them in their positions/dens for camp. Registration will be available online soon.
Training
Adult volunteers must be Youth Protection trained before applying to camp. Den Chief applicants must be Den Chief trained and present a letter of reccomendation from their Scoutmaster (or equivalent for female applicants). Those without training or letters of reccomendation will not be considered.
Youth Protection training: myscouting.org
Den Chief Training: online or check the council calendar for in person classroom style training
What is the refund policy?
Since the camps have incurred expenses related to the reservation such as program materials, $25 of the camp fee is non-refundable under any circumstances. The refund of the balance of any fees paid will be based upon the proximity to your arrival date in camp and if it meets the criteria outlined below. Within 30 days of your arrival date at camp, refunds will only be considered for the following reasons:
- Scout's illness -- written statement required from physician
- Extreme family emergency -- written statement required from parent
- Summer School -- written statement required from school principal or guidance counselor
In all cases, requests for refunds must be in writing and submitted to the Cradle of Liberty Council Camping Office on or before your arrival date in camp.
Contact the COL Day Camp Staff Advisor (Antoine LaFontant) at 215-988-9811 or your Day Camp Director if you have other questions.
