Scouting For Food
Scouting For Food

Scouting for Food is one of nation's largest food drives that Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Veture Crew members participate in to support their local Food Pantry's and Hunger Relief angencies.

The Scouts of the Cradle of Liberty Council have continuously exceeded expectations and fully stocked dozens of our partner agencies with bags and bags of canned food.

Check here for updates on this year's Scouting for Food campaign and learn how you can contribute.

Food Collection – Saturday, November 15, 2014

On Saturday, November 8, 2014 Scouts and Leaders will be out in Philadelphia, Delaware and Montgomery Counties putting out Scouting for Food collection bags to as many houses as possible. Please keep track of the area your Unit distributes the Scouting for Food bags for pickup on November 15th.

On Saturday, November 15, 2014 the Scouts and Leaders will again be out to collect the generous donation of food by the good people of our communities.

Please wait until after 9am on Saturday, November 15th to start collecting food. Please have some Leaders and Scouts from your Unit recheck the area you collected from after 11:30am to check for any food that may have been put out late.

After collecting and counting the generous donation of food from the good people of your community go to https://www.colbsa.org/scouting-for-food.html and let us know how many youth and adults participated, how many food items you collected and share any fun or interesting stories about your experiences.

Each holiday season the Philadelphia area Scouts volunteer thousands of hours and conduct one of the largest food drives in the area. This collaborative efforts involves Channel 6 WPVI-ABC, several local scout councils, dozens of food pantries and hundreds of area businesses and thousands of generous citizens. We would like to take the chance to thank all of our volunteers, sponsors, and givers for assisting the Boy Scouts of America in their mission to ensure that no person goes hungry this Thanksgiving.

The Scouts will sort and count the total donations for their unit and report them.

Our units are proud of their efforts in 2013, they collected over
275,000 lbs. of food and are challenged to collect more this year. In an effort to measure our progress we are asking that each unit report their total collections.

The Boy Scouts of America will collect food along the parade route of the 6 ABC Thanksgiving Day Parade.

On Thanksgiving, the Boy Scouts of America will assemble to collect food items from parade attendees. Efforts will be made through television commercials to ask attendees to bring items of food with them to be collected by the Scouts.
