| Scouts arrived on Sunday at Resica Falls! Check back throughout the summer as we highlight activities at camp. Take Your Swim Test Before Coming to Camp Traditionally, the swim classification test has been conducted on a unit's first day at summer camp. However, there is no restriction that this be the only place the test can be conducted. If your unit would like to conduct their own swim classification prior to attendance at Resica Falls, click here for the Pre-Camp Swim Classification Form or go to the Document Library. Sign-Up for 2010 Resica Falls Summer Camp -- Cradle of Liberty Units ONLY In an attempt to balance the need to serve our Cradle of Liberty Units against the goal of filling all available spaces at camp, we are offering advanced registration for 2010 Resica Falls Summer Camp. A Cradle of Liberty Unit may secure a space at Resica Falls for the 2010 Summer Camp Season by submitting an advanced registration form and $50 non-refundable deposit by June 27, 2009. From Friday, August 7th to Tuesday, August 11th you'll head to Resica Falls for the Summer Venturing Experience. This extended weekend has three program packed days of adventures, and excursions for your group to pick from. On Monday we are taking everyone to Camelbeach, the premiere waterpark of the Poconos, for an all day wet and wild adventure. Each evening will feature some swimming, fun entertainment and some great time for socializing and relaxings. This is a program just for Venturers and likewise the programs and challenges are designed for teens in a summer camp setting. Click here for your Venturing Experience Guide or go to the Document Library. Check Out the Document Library for the latest updates! National issues New Annual Health and Medical Record Form Based on input from individual Scouters, the Order of the Arrow, local councils, health and safety and risk management committees, and high-adventure bases, the BSA Health and Safety Committee has established one Annual Health and Medical Record for all ages and known risks. It is simple and yet comprehensive enough to be used for both health and wellness evaluations as well as emergency situations. The NEW Annual Health and Medical Record Form can be found in the Document Library. Everyone is encouraged to use this new form. Since the former Class 1, 2, & 3 Medical Forms were valid for multiple years, they will still be accepted in camp for 2009. As of January 1, 2010, the NEW Annual Health and Medical Record Form will be the only form accepted. News from the Health and Safety Committee The 2009 version of the Drug Administration Record will be available in the Document Library on Feb. 1, 2009. This form must accompany every Scout and Scouter who attends summer camp. It deals with both Prescription Drugs and Over-The-Counter medicines brought to camp. The following information has been added, “In accordance with the BSA Camp Standards, all medications brought from home must be stored in the Camp Health Lodge (except for EPIPENS, RESCUE INHALERS, ANGINA MEDICATIONS, & INSULIN). However, the Camp, its Staff, and the Cradle of Liberty Council assume no responsibility for administering medications from home. Any youth campers requiring injectable medications should be able to administer these medications themselves or have an adult leader/parent/guardian available that would be able to administer these medications for them.” Camp Staff Applications and Interviews If you are interested in being on the staff of Cub World at Musser Scout Reservation or Resica Falls Scout Reservation, an application is available in the Document Library. Interviews are currently being scheduled. For more information contact the Camp Director of Cub World Mike Maley at mmaley@colbsa.org or the Camp Director of Resica Falls Chris Brenner at bren226@verizon.net. The Closing of Treasure Island The Cradle of Liberty Council Executive Committee voted that Treasure Island be closed as of October 1, 2008. Treasure Island would be closed for both weekend and summer camping. The Council’s Camping Committee will investigate the future use of Treasure Island and make a presentation at a date to be determined. |
