On May 12, 2012 (with a rain date of May 19, 2012), Roosevelt District will be sponsoring a Show N Do. For those of you who have never participated in one, a Show N Do is an opportunity to share with our community all of those great things that are part of our program. The Show N Do will be held at Wissinoming Park. Participation will be open to all Packs, Troops, Crews and Ships willing to share the great skills that we teach as part of the Scouting Program.
The Theme for the Show N Do is, “An 8 hour Camporee”. Each Unit participating will set up a small camp site inside the park and “Show” to its audience (the public) a specific Scout skill (see skills list linked below). The unit will then invite the audience to “Do” that skill.
To sign your unit up to participate please fill out the blank below and submit it with the program fee ($5.00 per person, $7.00 after 4/11), to any member of the Show N Do Committee no later than the April Round Table.
All event and registration information, patch design contest, and skills list is located: here.

You can download the form here and even pay by credit card this year! The cost will be $22; please RSVP by March 23rd to avoid a late fee. In addition, nominations for the District Award of Merit and the Innaugural Rough Rider Award are now being accepted. Here are the links to everything you will need! They are also available on the COLBSA website on the Roosevelt Forms page.
The ROUGH RIDER AWARD is a Roosevelt District Award presented in the same manner that a District Award of Merit is presented by the Council.
The award is available to registered adult Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the Unit level. The award is made available annually.
It is not appropriate to nominate a Scouter who has already received this award (Won't be a problem this year!).
A professional Scouter may not receive this award based on professional service. However, a professional Scouter who also serves as a volunteer Scouter may be eligible, based on volunteer service.
1. A nominee must be a registered Scouter.
2. A nominee must have rendered noteworthy service at the Unit level.
3. Consideration must be given to the nominee's Scouting position and the corresponding opportunity to render outstanding service beyond the expectations of that position.
1.Annually, the district chairman will appoint a temporary special District Awards Committee who will consider all candidates and make recommendations of those to receive the award. Please mail nomination to:
Cradle of Liberty Council, BSA
N 22ndStreet & Winter Street
Philadelphia, PA 19103
Or email to Dominic Aquilino, acting secretary to the Awards and Recognition Committee:

The Jewish Committee on Scouting has funds available for both Cub and Boy Scouts going to summer camp. In the past, between 60% and 70% of the cost of camping has been reimbursed. The only requirement is that the Scout be of the Jewish faith. Further Campership details are included in this document.
In preparation for the upcoming warm weather (we hope!), Scouts from throughout the Frontier District came together last week to help clean Lorimer Park on Moredon Road in Northeast Philadelphia.
The Park is home to the Frontier District's Cub Scout Klondike as well as its Cub Scout Day Camp in July. We look forward to our continued relationship with the park, and are thankful for the opportunity to give back to our community.
A special thanks to Ron Pleis of Troop 563 and Scott Morgan, Regional Manager of Montgomery County Parks, for coordinating our effort!
Here is the Thank You letter written to us by the park: Lorimer Park Thank You Letter
