2012 Campership Information and Application

On May 12, 2012 (with a rain date of May 19, 2012), Roosevelt District will be sponsoring a Show N Do. For those of you who have never participated in one, a Show N Do is an opportunity to share with our community all of those great things that are part of our program. The Show N Do will be held at Wissinoming Park. Participation will be open to all Packs, Troops, Crews and Ships willing to share the great skills that we teach as part of the Scouting Program.

The Theme for the Show N Do is, “An 8 hour Camporee”. Each Unit participating will set up a small camp site inside the park and “Show” to its audience (the public) a specific Scout skill (see skills list linked below). The unit will then invite the audience to “Do” that skill.

To sign your unit up to participate please fill out the blank below and submit it with the program fee ($5.00 per person, $7.00 after 4/11), to any member of the Show N Do Committee no later than the April Round Table.

All event and registration information, patch design contest, and skills list is located: here.

Congratulations to the 2012 Roosevelt Chapter OA Officers
Billy Gibson     Chapter Chief          (Troop 444)
Joe Picozzi      Chapter Vice Chief  (Troop 444)
Tom Leonard  Chapter Secretary   (Troop 290)

Thank you again to Andrew Doggett & Ken Farrell for serving as the Chapter Co-Chiefs

and Billy Gibson & Michael Gormley as Co-Vice-Chiefs for 2011.

The Jewish Committee on Scouting has funds available for both Cub and Boy Scouts going to summer camp.  In the past, between 60% and 70% of the cost of camping has been reimbursed.  The only requirement is that the Scout be of the Jewish faith.  Further Campership details are included in this document.

In preparation for the upcoming warm weather (we hope!), Scouts from throughout the Frontier District came together last week to help clean Lorimer Park on Moredon Road in Northeast Philadelphia.

The Park is home to the Frontier District's Cub Scout Klondike as well as its Cub Scout Day Camp in July.  We look forward to our continued relationship with the park, and are thankful for the opportunity to give back to our community.

A special thanks to Ron Pleis of Troop 563 and Scott Morgan, Regional Manager of Montgomery County Parks, for coordinating our effort!

Here is the Thank You letter written to us by the park: Lorimer Park Thank You Letter

Campership applications for this Summer are due May 1, 2011.

Don't forget to fill one out and help us fulfill our motto of "No Child Left Indoors!"

This year's form can be found here:  2011 Campership Form
